Kirk and Bones on the bridge. Note Uhura at the com console and the fold over lights look like the ones from the Cage episode of the original show that had Pike in it.

And James Cawley(Capt. Kirk in STNV or ST: Phase II) has a cameo in the movie.

Yeah thats pretty cool for him. His recreations were pretty good for a guy working in a warehouse on a limited budget funded by himself.

He and his "crew" are still making new episodes. It takes a while, but considering that it is all paid out of their own pockets I'm not complaining.

These fan episodes captured the feel of the original, and I hope the new movie generates the interest it should among fans.

Yes, if they can pull this off it will be grand! It's still a pretty big if, but it looks really nice... I've got my fingers crossed.

I will be interested to see how they reconcile the fact that Christopher Pike was the first Capt. of the Enterprise. I am sure its one of those the ship is newly built and not in service yet and Kirk and crew take it on an unscheduled mission.

Any reactions to the new preview? I had read that it's all kinds of controversial, but then I saw it . . . and just shrugged.

I will say, though, that based on this 60-90 seconds of disarray, I'm worried that there's going to be too great a focus on the Captain--as if it's the story of his finding himself in space. I say this because of the opening sequence about young Kirk driving toward a cliff and the voice over about his dissatisfaction with life on Earth.

The beauty of the original series (well, one of the beauties other than Yoeman Janice Rand - hubba hubba, y'ouch!, me likes, hummina hummina) was that that the big three--Kirk, Spock, McCoy--were clearly "the main character." Some might quibble about this, adding Scotty and even the Enterprise, but my point is it wasn't any one character's story. It was the crew's.

Thoughts?

C'mon, let's pick this preview apart!!

Well after getting over seeing the Vette go over the cliff and screaming Why.......Why......I thought hey not bad. Then I saw them building the enterprise a rather large Star Ship on the ground and I said what the heck.....

Looking at the preview I think Bones looks right on from my seat in the aisle. Spock has quite a bit of anger there I am thinking this is young conflicted Spock not yet fully in control of the human side.

I think the movie itself will feature more of the ensemble acting. The previews are packaged for maximum kick.

Now come on folks admit it this the crew you wanted to see more of! am I right?

I loved McCoy's paranoia in the trailer.

"Space - its dark and scary and weird - and dangerous!"

Or someTHINg to THAT effect.

Have you been using your Barsoomian powers to read my mind again?
